Selma Blair is a charming American actress. She has earned her reputation as one of the leading actresses in the US and established a solid foundation in her acting career. She has had an outstanding impact on most of the Hollywood films. Her elegant acting techniques unfolded in 2003 when she got nominated as the best actress and won the exclusive DVD awards.
Early Life
The actress was born in 1972 in Southfield Michigan. She went to Hillel Day School, which is a Jewish Day School in Farmington Hills, Michigan and later joined Cranbrook Kingswood School in Bloomfield Hills. Blair went to Michigan University where she studied Photography. She was married to Ahmet Zappa for two years after which they divorced citing irreconcilable differences between them. She is currently dating Mikey Day who featured in Kath & Kim.
Career Life
Blair trained as an actress at the Stella Adler Centre and began her acting career by taking part in TV shows. Blair would also take part in minor roles during the shooting of major films. This was later to become the strong wheel behind her acting prowess. In the film Cruel Intentions she beat all the odds to star in it, which won her the Best Kiss award. This was a remarkable achievement which also played a big role in the resounding victory witnessed during the MTV movie awards together with the co star Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Blair continued with her presentations of popular TV shows before she started to work with Reese Witherspoon on the production of the comedy film “Legally Blonde” in 2001. She also featured in Highway in 2002, Dallas 362 in 2003 and played as Liz Sherman in Hellboy 11 in 2004 which was later released in 2008 as the Golden Army. In the film Feast of Love she gave a brilliant performance when she played as Greg Kinnears wife. Some of the best performances that earned an overwhelming public affirmation include Legally Blond, The Sweetest Thing and Hellboy. She also played as Kim in the “Kath and Kim” film. Her new projects include Happy Together which has been featuring this year. In 2010 she will be featuring in Columbus Circle.
Awards and Nominations
In 1999 she was nominated for the Teen Choice Award due to her brilliant performances in the movie “The Sweetest Thing”. She also got a nomination in the TV show Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane. In 2000 Blaire won the MTV awards for her striking performance in Cruel Intentions. She also won Young Hollywood awards as a female artist with the most promising career and exciting new face. In 2003 she was nominated as the best actress for the DVD Exclusive awards.
