The American actress Selma Blair was born on the 23rd of June, 1972. Selma was born Selma Blair Beitner in Southfield in the State of Michigan. She is the daughter of Mollly Ann, who is a judge and Elliot Beitner. Selma is the youngest of four daughters to the couple. Her schooling includes attending Hillel Day School, a Jewish day school in Michigan and Cranbrook Kingswood school in Bloomfield Hills in Michigan. Selma also attended the Kalamazoo College in Michigan, she transferred from Kalamazoo to the University of Michigan and finished a bachelor’s degree during 1994.
Selma trained at the Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting before beginning her career. She began with smaller roles on television before becoming famous for her role in the internationally famous film Cruel Intentions. Selma starred alongside actors that included Sarah Michelle Gellar, famous for her role as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Reese Wtiherspoon and Ryan Phillippe. This was the role that lead to Selma becoming a well known celebrity in both in the United States and internationally. Her subsequent role in the television series Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane, which ran from 1999 to 2000 cemented her place as a film and television celebrity in the United States.
In 2001 Selma joined with Reese Witherspoon again for the comedy Legally Blonde. This was another great success story for Selma. One of her most famous roles to date is that of Liz Sherman in Hellboy from 2004 and Hellboy II: The Golden Army from 2008. We look forward to seeing Selma again in 2010 as she is currently filming Columbus Circle in which she plays the role of Abigail.
